@MaxMouseDLL / O.P.,
Just a quick note, I would absolutely kick in cash to this project. Not sure if there is a better thread to say this in, or if this is the only place to mention it. Anyhow I realize the O.P. is waiting on a quote, just happened to notice this and thought I'd chime in. Regards, npt

Unless that whole spiel about their company being useful to protect "Intellectual Property" is just a charade, ChipWorks is probably not very interested in helping people breaking copy protection systems, no matter that they claim their goals are truly noble. I would guess their main clientele consists of not-to-small businesses who are truly interested in Chipworks services as advertised, and I have my doubts Chipworks wants to sully their hands by helping people break protections.
Also, $5000 sounds very cheap for full circuit analysis and reverse-engineered schematics! Especially considering that a "simple" bill of materials type report costs around $1500 from Portelligent, a company which Chipworks describes as their colleagues. Also, Datel invested over £2 million in their reverse engineering lab. Seems a bit illogical if they could just buy the required services for $5000 a pop instead. Actually Datel seems to be advertising similar services as Chipworks. Maybe they would be more sympathetic to such an endeavour? Or more likely they would decline, not because of ethics but rather from a competitive point of view, wanting to be alone in hacking the consoles... But this is just pessimistic me, so don't let your hopes down too much ![]() After all, Chipworks do services for individuals. They will gladly do acid etched decapping of chips for about $50. Perhaps they are at least willing to do detailed SEM micrographs for affordable prices too?

One thing is for sure, people have tried, and like me... have got no love, you're probably right, they just don't want to be involved... they can see what I'd do with that kind of information.

It would seem people are now decapping IC's... this is interesting since it doesn't really look that hard...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...&v=mT1FStxAVz4 Anyone have any thoughts on this and what could be accomplished if a decap of a PSP/Vita IC where doable?
