Default What exactly is the Utopia Project?

I haven't read extensively into it, but what I read through the speculation thread on QJ was very vague.

One solid answer would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

It's a completely different OS instead of the PSP's firmware. It will be completely open-source, built from scratch, probably with no copyrighted code from the official firmware, unlike the custom firmwares we have today (which is mostly just official firmware + patches)...

Actually it is only the kernel, there is no specific vsh replacement planned for utopia. If someone wants to code one that runs on it he will be more than welcome to.

Utopia shall be public shortly, I have to ask Silverspring about it first though and I have to setup the svn for it and add the apropriate forum sections.

Neat! Thanks for the replies.

If anyone is going to make a VSH replacement and needs graphics, I'll be glad to help.

Everything starting from LCD driver to Memory Stick/FAT driver to WLAN has been re-written / Reverse Engineered from scratch?

That's a massive achievement

Don't kill me but will the kernel allow TV output for slim?

That's all.
