-Rewrote some XA searching functions for problematic games (crash Bandicoot series, Parasite Eve, possibly others)
-Brand spanking new icons (not so butt ugly looking anymore XD)

Gr33t5 to all my buds and mates & you for using the app :)

installation
------------
-unpack and replace old executables and blanks
-some users might have to reconfigure their CD drives :)

k, if you could try making a dump of Clock tower (fairly old old game) or resident evil3 nemesis and tell me if it works well with XA & str ripped out. i do't have those games but someone says it wont work :|
estimated RE3 iso when compressed should be 35megs (just an estimate not sure if it will be that size :) )

Now I only need to follow those "easy" tuts about creating gameboots :P . coldboots should be a little easier though.

it's ok as long as you release the files intact. :) but before releasing or hosting jus post here to let us know ahead of time.

Okay no problem next time i'll check its okay, mabey you could checksum the files for verification and authenticity ,Anyway i noticed that when i went to run PSXur-scanner that the program had missing dll files,so i put 2+2 together and thought that they must be in the first version.I downloaded v0.1 and installed the dll files into the program folder and PSXur-scanner ran.Just thought i would give you the heads up incase the site starts to get spammed by...."i went to run PSXur-scanner and the program came up with an error bla bla bla"

thanx, i have noted the missing dlls in the readme of v0.2 but i forgot that some people don't have the first edition so yes it would be cool to point that out. working on the third edition now, most changes aren't noticeable to end user they are mostly inner tweaks. cheers

working on the third edition now
is there any way you could add an option to extract all the files from the .bin? so they can be kept? or is it already in there but i'm just missing it?

thanks,

SpectroPlasm
01-22-2007, 06:23 AM
it's already there Fergie4000 just use the ripper and instead of selecting rip all just select the backup button. It will rip the contents out of the bin file and save it. if you wanna restore it again later just use the replace button that's all :) have fun

ok thanks spec i guessed it was there somewhere. but does this extract them as .tim and .xa and the like or as .bmp and .avi and .wav?

ok thanks spec i guessed it was there somewhere. but does this extract them as .tim and .xa and the like or as .bmp and .avi and .wav?

it extracts them in their respective formats. but it wont tag the AX or STR extentions tho. if you want to have a good rip first search for xa only and then extract them and manually put the .xa on the files. then search for STR or any other format and repeat the same step. i'm working on it atm so you don't have to do it like this but till then hang in there ;)

Had some problem with PSX Ultimate Ripper.. Had both v0.1 & v0.2.. i did all the steps from scanning it with the PSXur-scanner, saved the psm files (owh.. and i got the .cue file using IsoBuster too) But when i run PSX Ultimate Ripper, tried to open the .bin file (in this case; FF9.bin, for Final Fantasy 9), nothing showed up.. and when i opened the .psm file, all it shows is a bunch of numbers.

Whats wrong? Did i do it wrong? Sorry, i'm a noob in this.. :(

Hello, another newcomer here!

I just wanted to ask everyone who's used v0.2 of the Ultra Ripper - do those 0-byte STRs work well on your PSPs? I've been trying to make my own perfect rips and really dislike that common blank STR with the grey spinning arrow that lasts four seconds long. I've tried ripping a game with the 0-byte STR myself but so far am only able to test the games with emulators like ePSXe and pSX due to me not (yet) having a PSP of my own.

With the aforementioned two emus, the game just gets stuck with the ripped movie everytime, as in it doesn't go smoothly at all (pSX reports tons of XA errors in its console) and it's not the quick zip-past process I was hoping for. Hopefully it's different on a PSP folks?

don't forget to compress with popstation after :) cheers

i just ripped Resident Evil 1-3 and compressed with popstation level 9. The games run fine at first but after about a few minutes each game freezes and locks up. I'm also on 303OE-C. This also happens with C-12 Final Resistance which i've got down to 32MB. whats the deal?

NTSC versions, also i noticed that they freeze usually at the point where there is supposed to be FMV scenes. no garbled sound though. these games load fine but freeze ingame.

is there a certain file format thats best for this:confused:

because no matter what format I do, cue, bin, iso, tao etc. I only get like 5-20 things detected (all check boxes marked in the psx scanner) and when I rip those... I barely get any change, maybe 1-20 megabytes!

What am I doing wrong?

So far I've used FF9 and Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped ... are those games incompatable?

PLEASE help! :(

SpectroPlasm
04-06-2007, 02:57 PM
hey commandercup ;), i use the bin cue, and iso files for my rips. if you can't reach a lower rip you may have used a tool that made a raw dump of the bin cue files, isobuster has an option to rip raw and when ripping raw you'd get extra junk with the image. i don't know your tool of choice but if you still have problems you may want to use isobuster and instead of raw image creating just use the 'extract image (tao)' option you'd get a clean image that could be later packed with the POPs gui.

the games you stated earlier are all compatible with my tool, i've had no problems on my end at all.

Sorry for resurrecting a dead topic, but...

What exactly makes this different than Segu's PSMPlay ( segu.psxemu.com ) and TheDragonKeeper's PSXLDR ( web.archive.org/web/*/http://pdai.org/~dk/guide/ldrguide.htm )?

...I mean, other than the edited resources that remove any sort of reference to the original authors, and nothing mentioned in the readme or About dialogs...

everyone has been credited.

-SEGU (without your app and programming this wouldn't be reality now)
-TheDragonKeeper (without your app and programming this wouldn't be reality now)

...that's an understatement...PSXLDR source wasn't available, so adding features is a feat!

Cool, my post was edited out, just like the real authors of the programs. I sense a theme!

And just how exactly was your post edited out? You posted the same thing 4-5 times in 2 different threads, which i merged into a single post. If the only reason you registered and posted here was to fight, perhaps you should find another hobby. You asked for credits, I linked to them in my post.

Now if you have a problem with things that are not within an admin's control or knowledge (the sharing/stealing of source code), you should be taking it up with the author of the program directly by PMing him. If what you are saying is true, I will do whatever is in my power to stop it.

I do not agree with his actions if what you're saying is true, but perhaps you shouldn't be talking about this forum's policies when you've only registered here 3-4 days ago.

I suggest you send a private message to spectroplasm and work this out...

Cool, my post was edited out, just like the real authors of the programs. I sense a theme!

No one edited your post buddy. You posted the same exact thing 3 times, and another thread on top of that. That's spam. You post once and be done with it.

Either some of the guys here don't know how to read or they need a new pair of glasses, I never and not even once said i made the applications, if you will please re-read the readme i have included in the v0.1 release i have clearly stated that they are "bloody hacks" meaning i never had the sources to begin with, and also i have given credit to all of the original authors of these tools in the readme also. These tools i have used for countless PSX games during the days of PSX games shrinking and backup iso generating.

I have however added some tweaks to the programs:
-faster execution of search patterns.
-slightly smaller footprints of ripped isos
-removed some non useful search patterns (ie: the tim has been disabled, since it has been known to corrupt them not remove them)
-added new icons to the old ones.

@JLsoft
yes i admire the authors for their app and programming skills not programming source.
what credit would i have from stealing an app in the first place huh?, nothing.
and what credit would i get out of releasing a hacked version for free to the world huh? nothing.

to sum it up i just wanted to share with the rest of the people who love PSX games and homebrew a little tool which aren't mine but which were hacked for new features.

i take responsibility for the things that i have done on these apps, if the authors tell me to stop hacking their apps i will comply without hesitation or regret, i'm not making money out of it in any way nor am i ripping the original guys who made the apps in the first place, i'm just making these hacks because they are of use to me and i found it nice to share with the outside world.

cyanide, I apologize if there were multiple posts. The first several never showed up here (even after forced refreshes), and so I figured the forum was auto-deleting and flagging them as 'spam', since they contained links to other sites and it was my first post. I was convinced of this when I submitted the same post with the actual links gone, and it actually posted.

SpectroPlasm, I have no problem at all with packaging everything needed to rip together along with required DLLs and documentation...that's fine, and commonly done. The main issue I had was that the About... boxes in both programs were totally blanked/replaced with your name, making it look a little fishy/bad :)

Honestly, I wrote this thing.. what, almost 5 years ago now and pretty much forgot about it not too long after. Permission to use? Fine. If you really want the source I still have it.

The original PSXLDR was written before the PSP was even available for purchase. It was written for use in conjunction with a PocketPC PSX emulator FPSEce. Storage space several years ago was neither as cheap nor as plentiful as it is these days.

Frankly I'm kind of surprised too see it make as big of a "come back" as it did, apparently.
