FW 2.70+ Brightness Fixer for TA-082/TA-086 (ver 0.9)
-----------------------------------------------------

WARNING!

This program is ONLY for those users with TA-082/TA-086 PSP who are experiencing brightness problems (3, 2, 1, off) in firmwares 2.70 and above. This program fixes the IDStorage Key 0x008 on PSP which responsible for brightness in firmwares 2.70 and above.

Most hardware downgraded TA-082/TA-086 PSPs being shipped today have deleted IDStorage Key 0x008. This program will re-create that key and put a correct 0x008 data (no need for 0x008 IDStorage Key file).

Please be noted that this program does not include or need any of the dumped IDStorage Key file. It already knows the correct 0x008 key which is common to all TA-082/TA-086 PSPs.

However, this program does not fix the brightness problems on firmwares below 2.70 (including fw1.50) when on TA-082/TA-086 PSPs. Let alone the M33 custom firmware do that for you.

-----------------------------
How Do I Know If I Need This?
-----------------------------
- YOu have PSP with TA-082/TA-086 motherboard
- You are experiencing brightness problems on firmwares 2.70 and above
- You are too annoyed with it and wanted a fix
- Other IDStorage Fixers does not fix it for you
- You accept all the RISKS and know that the developer is not accountable of what this program may do to your PSP

----------
How To Use
----------
- Just put the brightnessfixer/ and brightnessfixer%/ folder on your GAME (for fw1.50) or GAME150 (for custom firmwares)

FAQs
----

Q. Will this brick my PSP?

A. No. The worst case it may do to your PSP is it *may* only screw the brightness on NON-TA-082/TA-086 PSPs but it never bricks your PSP. But you know that this program is only for TA-082/TA-086 PSPs right?

Q. What if I don't have a brightness problem in my TA-082/TA-086 and still decided to use this program?

A. Your IDStorage Key 0x008 will just be the same. So nothing will happen.

Q. Why create another IDStorage Fixer when there's alot that already do the same?

A. The only feature that this program has that already released IDStorage fixers (at the time of this writing) do not have is that when it detects that a key is deleted, it will recreate it.

Q. What version of custom firmware will this run?

A. Any custom firmwares as long as it uses Kernel 1.50.

Additional Info

M33 - Fixes brightness for homebrews that run on 1.50. This is temporary fix as long as you have M33 installed.

This program - Fixes brightness for games/homebrews/etc.. that run on firmwares 2.70 and above. This fix is permanent as long as IDStorage Key 0x008 will not be changed again. This will make your TA-082/TA-086's IDStorage Key 0x008 back to original.

Thanks Slash this fixed my problem!

Brightness now goes 1-2-3-4 instead of 3-2-1-off.

The only idstorage key I don't have now is 0x0047 ... do you know what that deals with?

I bought a hard downed TA-082.

Hello, to start off I would like to thank you for this app. I had downloaded it to fully solve a friend of mine's brightness problem (my ta-82 does NOT have the brightness problem). After converting it to a 1.00 EBOOT and giving it a ICON0, I wanted to run it and make sure everything was still working. I knew that since I didnt suffer from the reversed brightness, I didnt need to run it. But because I read this I thought it would be alright:

Unfortunatly, since I ran the app and it gave me a key 8 (shouldnt have one at all) I now suffer from reversed brightness. Instead of being 3-2-1-off like a "normal" reverse brightness, my psp now is 4-3-2-1. I can live with this effect espically since it dont make the screen fully black, but I was wondering how I would go about deleting key 8 from my flash to fix this?

All help is much appriciated!

Ignore the above post, I got key 8 deleted by using IdStorage Manager v1.2. You can get it from here. (http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=50765)

Hi, i have the missing key 8 with CF 3-80-M33-5 on a TA-086, this patch can run under this firmware, do you have another way to rebuild key 8 ?

Thank's and sorry for my English ;)

Key 0x47 - Default parental lock level (first byte is 0x09, rest is empty)

You can use IdStorage Manager to create key 8 (if it's completely missing) and edit it. It only has a few bytes, so it's not hard to recreate, and isn't one of the "unique" keys.

Hi Guys,
Not sure if my problem is unique.
I can set brightness normally (TA-082), but when I launch an application,
it goes one or two levels brighter, and then returns to the original brightness
level when the app exits to XMB.
Particularly annoying since you cant set the brightness to any level that will
"stick" unless I were to permanently use iRshell or something so homebrew was
running all the time.
Cheers, Art.
